Stereoflow for Mentawai & Merapi

The tsunami was triggered by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake that hit at 9:42 p.m., local time, on Monday near the western island of Sumatra. The resulting waves killed more than 300 people. A few hours later the 9,700-foot (3,000-meter) volcano Mount Merapi, on the eastern island of Java, blew a pillar of hot ash and debris into the sky, killing at least 30 people living on its slopes.*

Indonesia is in mourn and my deepest condolence goes to all the people at Mentawai and Merapi. Let us hope, pray and most importantly let us do something and help the people there. There for I am going to raise money by selling some art prints to be directly donated to Mentawai and Merapi. (80% of your purchase will be for donation)

Chezt It Out!

Photobucket
A two day graffiti session with my homeboy Cheztwo in streets of Bandung.

Photobucket
No doubt about it that Cheztwo is one of Bandung's top graffiti writers who has been keeping it real from day one. And his 'big' name needed a big wall to fit on to. So Cheztwo and I hit the streets and did what we love doing. The weather switched from striking hot to pouring rain but we did it. And we did it big. No, we did it huge! Thanks to Racht4 and Skeed for helping out.

Monstore: "The Scene Stealers" (Recap)

Monstore’s “The Scene Stealers” Arts Exhibition was held on the 15th of October until the 17th of October 2010. It was an exhibition dedicated to feature the amazing artworks of their talented Scene Stealers, in conjunction to launch the Monstore x The Trees and The Wild collaboration product.

On the opening day, The Trees and The Wild performed an acoustic set of their favorite tracks, including an exclusive debut of their new soon to be released single as a token of the launch of the collaboration product which is available now online at www.heymonstore.com.

Guests and attendees was offered an array of exquisite artworks to view by all the artists that is now united under the Scene Stealers community, which was established by Monstore as a forum and community for local and international artists both known and up and coming, to express themselves and collaborate creatively with Monstore. United under the Scene Stealers community are familiar names such as Stereoflow, Woyk, Araji, Danot, Monez and international artists such as Manuel Heischel and Balint Gelley, and also talented newcomers such as Ryan Tandya, Randy Rahardja, Varsam, and Lia.

With this event, we hope that the inspired people especially the young art public are motivated to express themselves freely and creatively in artistic ways to truly find their original identity in art, and also in life.

Mr. Cochrane

Mr. Cochrane -Ray Cochrane- was my 5th grade teacher when I was back in Sydney. And like all teachers do, Ray taught me well. I remember when he made a tie out of duct tape for the yearly class photos telling us he forgot to bring his tie. From that I learned that one needs to be not only creative but to create and stand in your own perspective. Like one time a classmate saw him overlapping a car but Ray considered it as changing lanes. Well it might not seem very important to you but those conversations with Ray kind of effected the way I think today.

As long as I could remember Ray draws ridiculously good and he can play the guitar. Very artistic man with a good sense of humor. A very cool teacher indeed for a 5th grader who loves to draw and sure he still inspires me until today.

A few weeks ago he kindly took a picture of my art print posted up on his wall in his really awesome music room of his. Very flattering. Thanks Ray!

Monstore: "The Scene Stealers" Arts Exhibition

Photobucket
Prepare for "The Scene Stealers" Arts Exhibition by Monstore, with special performance from The Trees & The Wild for the Monstore x The Trees & The Wild Series Launching.

The Scene Stealers are both established and emerging artists who had contributed their artworks and collaborated creatively with Monstore. The name Scene Stealers itself is based on Monstore’s basic concept that there's a scene or a story in every artwork that they print on their tees, and these Scene Stealers are those who had successfully stolen their scene.

The Scene Stealers:
WOYK, Randy RHRJ, L.I.A, A.R.A.J.I, Varsam, Ryan Tandya, Stereoflow, CikCuk,Monez, Balint, Kimmick.

This celebration of art, music and fashion is surely not to be missed. The who’s who of Jakarta’s creative society will surely be flocking down to Mazee to be a part of this exciting event.

Skin Deep

Photobucket
Skin Deep | Acrylics on Canvas (60cm x 80cm) | 2010

An artwork for "Sweet Streets Festival" at the "1000 Pound Bend" Venue held in Melbourne. The main idea and concept of this painting is to show what matters to me most and has deep affections for me as a individual and as an artist. And tattoos seem a perfect way to express it. Tattoos are often used to mark a person's body based on a live event that has influenced or has deep meanings in their lives.
Photobucket

We will start from the bottom which is a tattoo of Common's classic Hip-hop song "I Used To Love H.E.R." written on the foot that stands for Hip-hop as the basic influence and foundation for my arts. Moving up is a Sun Flower drawn around the belly button representing where I am from which is Bandung a.k.a Flower City. I've been painting a few flowers in the past years and it's been like a symbol to bring hospitality and kindness that this city has. Right above that are bold fonts the spell FAB Family written across the belly. No doubt indeed, FAB Family has been -like the name itself- a family to me with full support and love. Together we evolve and elevate ourselves in becoming better individuals. Now on the chest is a quote (or maybe a self note) that I wrote for myself "you don't really need a plan if you already have passion". Meaning that with enough passion, you can do anything you dream of because it's just miserable without it. On to the arms, the left arm are some Stereoflow Logos which has now become my symbol and on the right is a face of a girl that has been supporting me in my process. The last tattoo are the three stars below the eye. They are Mum, Dad and my sister which I always look up to.
